How to check if my operating system is up to date

To check if your operating system is up to date, follow these general steps. The specific instructions might vary slightly depending on your operating system. Please note that Trust is not responsible for up to date information for third party software. 


For Windows 10:

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu, and then select the gear-shaped Settings icon.
  2. Go to Update & Security: In the Settings window, select "Update & Security."
  3. Check for Updates: In the Update & Security window, click on the "Windows Update" tab on the left. Then, click the "Check for updates" button.
  4. Install Updates: If there are updates available, Windows will download and install them. Follow any on-screen instructions and restart your computer if necessary.

For Windows 11:

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start button in the bottom-left corner of your screen, and then click on the gear-shaped Settings icon. Alternatively, you can press Win + I together to open Settings.
  2. Go to Windows Update: In the Settings window, click on "Windows Update" on the left sidebar.
  3. Check for Updates: In the Windows Update section, you'll see information about your update status. Click on the "Check for updates" button.
  4. Install Updates: If updates are available, Windows will display them. Click on "Download" or "Install" to initiate the update process.
  5. Restart Your Computer (if necessary):


For macOS:

  1. Open Apple Menu: Click on the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen.
  2. Go to System Preferences: Select "System Preferences."
  3. Access Software Update: In System Preferences, click on "Software Update."
  4. Check for Updates: macOS will check for available updates. If updates are found, you will see a list. Click "Update Now" to install them.


For Android:

  1. Open Settings: Open the "Settings" app on your Android device.
  2. Go to System: Scroll down and select "System."
  3. Access Software Update: Depending on your device, you might find "Software Update" or a similar option.
  4. Check for Updates: Tap on "Software Update" or the equivalent, and check for updates. If available, follow the prompts to install them.


For iOS (iPhone/iPad):

  • Open Settings: Open the "Settings" app.
  • Go to General: Tap on "General."
  • Access Software Update: Select "Software Update."
  • Check for Updates: If updates are available, tap "Download and Install" and follow the on-screen instructions.
